Gardner, Elias

Elias Gardner was born at Olony, Ill. March 30th 1831 and died at Elmdale, Kans. April 19th 1915 age 84 years and 19 days; He died at the home of his son, Albert. Grandpa Gardner was one of a family of seven children. He was father of ten children, three of whom are living. His first wife died in 1870. He came to Kansas in 1876 and in I884 moved to Nebraska. He was a member of the Congregational church at Cottonwood Falls.

The funeral was held at the home of his son, Albert. Rev. Ashley Rookstool of Elmdale conducting the services after which the body was taken to Nebraska for burial.

Mr. Gardner was a kind and considerate man. He loved his family and took great enjoyment in his neighbors and friends whom he was always glad to see. He was a good man and his life had been one of honest christian living. A short time before his death, he told his children that he was prepared to die. His faith in his Master and that he should have life eternal in that greater Home was supreme. He leaves besides his children and grandchilden many close friends in this county who will mourn his death.
