Gayer, J.E. Mrs. A sad death was that of Mrs. J. E. Gayer, who lives several miles west of this place, which occurred about 10 o'clock Friday night. Death came after one short day's illness and the sudden shock to Mrs. Gayer's husband has been severe and has left him
heartbroken. Up until Wednesday evening, Mrs. Gayer was strong and enjoying the best of health. On that day, as had been her custom the most of this summer and in fact for a number of years, she helped her husband in the field. Shortly after coming home in the evening, she had a severe chill and from then until her death, Friday night, her condition was critical.
Mrs. Gayer was thirty-two years of age. She was born October 12, 1878, in Missouri, but the greater part of her life has been spent in Chase county. Her husband is one of the best known farmers of this vicinity and besides him, there is left to mourn the one they loved so well, a father and mother and seven brothers and sisters. Her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Hulett, live at Bazaar. Her brothers and sisters are Albert Hulett, Mrs. Carrie
Campbell, Thomas Hulett, Andrew Hulett, Mrs. Mary Archer and Mrs. Liza Bruce all of this county and Grownell Hulett of Oregon.
The funeral was held Sunday after noon at the Gayer home after which interment was made in Prairie Hill cemetery. Rev. N. P. Dixon of this city preached the sermon. The funeral was largely attended and the floral
offerings were many and beautiful. With sad hearts was the last rites of love and respect paid to the one just
departed for her heavenly home.
