Gibb, Mildred Edith Thompson

Mildred Gibb, 90, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.

Mildred Edith Thompson, the daughter of Benton Scott and Hattie Mae Vinson Thompson, was born Aug. 17, 1916, at Cedar Point. She obtained her teaching certificate after high school and taught school for four or five years.

She and "Bill" Gibb were married July 3, 1945, in Strong City. He died Nov. 13, 2000. She worked in an airplane factory in Wichita during the war and then worked as a Nurse's Aide, at the nursing home in Cottonwood Falls. She was a member of the Elmdale United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by three sons, John Scott Gibb of Elmdale, Dennis William "Pete" Gibb of Liberal and Stanley Dale Gibb of Latham; a daughter, Susan A. Bradford of Wichita; a sister, Betty L. Thompson of Cedar Point; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bill Thompson and Jake Thompson; and three sisters, Susie Robinson, Irene Link and Bertha Fisher. Services were held at the Elmdale United Methodist Church, Saturday, Oct. 21, with the Rev. John Hastings officiating. Burial followed at Elmdale Cemetery.
