Goodell, Homer Charles "Smoke"

Homer Charles Goodell, 80, of Lebo died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, at Newman Regional Health.

Homer, the son of George and Maude Henry Goodell, was born March 4, 1926, in Saffordville. He married Dorothy Conrade on Aug. 27, 1950, in Americus. They were divorced. He married Delores Rosenquist on July 11, 1993, in Hartford. She survives.

He was an electrical supervisor at Emporia State University before he retired in 1992. He was also a farmer and rancher in Lyon and Coffey counties.

He is also survived by four sons, Alan Goodell of Lebo, Robert Goodell of Gardner, John Goodell of Council Grove and Bradley Goodell of Lamont; two daughters, Sharon Lightwine of Topeka and Cheryl Thorne or Pfluggerville, Texas; four step-sons, Larry Rosenquist, Daniel Rosenquist, Ronald Rosenquist and Dale Rosenquist; three sisters, Suzetta Bulton, Barbara Adkins and Janice Stead, all of Emporia; one brother, Joseph Goodell of Emporia; and 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Betsy Goodell and Julia Britain and two brothers, David Allen Goodell and George Goodell Jr.

The funeral was Friday, Oct. 13, at the Lebo United Methodist Church. Burial was in Lincoln Cemetery at Lebo. Memorial contributions to the Kansas Fish and Game Commission may be sent in care of the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home P.O. Box 43, Lebo, KS 66856.
