Goodwin, Harold Max
Harold M. Goodwin, 81, died Jan. 12, 2004, at his home in Bums.
Mr. Goodwin was a
retired farmer and was well
known throughout the area for delivering propane to area farms.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16, at the Bums United Methodist Church with burial to follow at the Bums Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday, Jan. 15, from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. at
the Zeiner Funeral Home at Marion with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Harold Max Goodwin, 81, died Jan. 12, 2004, at his home in Bums.
He was born Oct. 19, 1922, to Arthur Lewis Goodwin and Velma Margaret Fink Goodwin on his Grandma Fink's farm northeast of Burns. His father died four months later.
Harold attended school at the Jackson and Burns schools. He worked at various jobs to help his mother pay bills.
As a young man Harold was baptized as a member of the Methodist Church in Burns.
Harold and Reva Ilene Riggs were married on May 15, 1942, at Cottonwood Falls. After moving from the farm, Harold and Reva lived in El Dorado, Cottonwood Falls, and in
1950 moved to Florence.
He went to work for Skelgas in El Dorado in 1946 delivering propane for 26 years throughout Chase, Butler and Marion counties.
They lived in Florence while raising their family.
He was involved in various businesses throughout the years. He did custom bailing and swathing hay, owned a Lime spreading business for several years and continued to be involved in farming.
In 1975, they moved to their home on their farm west of Wonsevu and continued farming and raising livestock.
In 1996, they sold their farm and moved to Burns.
Survivors include his wife; son, Ron Goodwin, Burns; daughters, Sheryl
Bartlett of Wichita, Bonnie Elms of Stephenville, Texas, and Dawna Schmidt of Moundridge; sister, Wanda Rae Riggs Howard of Derby; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Jan. 16, 2004, at the United Methodist Church in Burns. Officiating ministers for the services were Janet Weathersbee of Clyde, Clint Stoppel of Ottawa, and Jim Bush of Burns.
Burial was at the Burns Cemetery in Burns.
Memorial funds have been established with the American Heart Association and the Burns Pride Association.
