Goodwin, Orval Lee

Orval Lee Goodwin, 92, died June 30, 2005, at Vintage Place, El Dorado.

Orval Lee, the son of William and Lillie Boyd Goodwin, was born Dec. 25, 1912, at Robinson Township, Ill. He attended Leon High School.

He married Mary Parks on June 4, 1934, at Great Bend. He had lived in the Cedar Point area since 1979. Orval was an oil field superintendent and worked for Thomas H. Allen Drilling Company.

He is survived by a son, J.D. Goodwin, Hampton, Va.; two brothers, Clyde Goodwin, Harlingen, Texas and Jack Goodwin, Talala, Okla.; two sisters, Louis VanMatre, Jacksonville, Fla. and Bonny Carlinder, El Dorado; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2003; a son, Billy' Lee Goodwin; a brother, Vinnie Gerald Goodwin; and sister, Peggy Louise Goodwin.

Graveside service was Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at Cedar Point Cemetery, Cedar Point, with Pastor Andy Torres Jr. presiding. Memorials in lieu of flowers are to Hospice Care of Kansas. Zeiner Funeral Home, 104 W. 5th, Florence, KS was in charge of arrangements.
