Graham, Altha Rowe

LIFE LONG RESIDENT DIES

Mrs. Altha Graham, 57, spent life in County.

Mrs. Altha Graham, 57, a well known and life long resident of this vicinity, died at 6:50 o'clock Thursday morning, June 23, 1939 at the Columbus hospital after a week's illness. Mrs.. Graham had undergone a major operation and peritonitis had developed. A blood transfusion was given on Wednesday but her condition gradually grew worse and death followed on Thursday.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Christian church, conducted by Rev. L.A. Johnson, who paid a high tribute to Mrs. Graham's life and influence in our community and in her home. The large crowd in attendance and many beautiful flowers were also other expressions of the esteem in which she was held by her many friends and neighbors.

Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. Mont Goldsberry, Mrs. Sam Meriwether and Billy Hamlet. The pallbearers were Clyde, Evan and Ralph DeVoe of Columbus, Guy Auman, Loyal Aumon and Robert Hartley of Baxter Springs, all nephews of Mrs. Graham. Burial was in the Columbus cemetery.

Mrs. Graham was born near Columbus, October 26, 1881. She was married to Jack Graham in this city in 1900 and had lived here all of her life. Mr. Graham preceded her in death on January 20, 1922. Mrs. Graham was a member of the Christian Church.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Helen Weiss of Baxter and the Misses Lora, Irene, Eldred and Catherine Graham of the home; two sons, Fred Graham of Columbus route 2, and Lee of the home.

Also surviving are four grandsons; four sisters, Mrs. J.A. Stephens of Bowling Green, Ind., Mrs. Ida Auman of rual Columbus, Mrs. Geo. Gabriel of Enid, Okla., and Mrs. R.B. Kyler of Monett, Mo.; two half-sisters, Mrs. Calvin Card of Lowell and Mrs. Lena Rebers of Joplin; two brothers, Abe Row of Weir, and C.M. Row of Ada, Okla., and nieces, nephews and cousins.
