Graham, Charles "Chuck" Charles Graham, 74, died June 20 at St. Francis Hospital in Whicita afer a
long illness.
Well known over a wide area to countless fireds as "Chuck", he was a
retired Florence businessman and community leader.
One of the five children of John and Elsie (Byram) Graham, he was born
February 19, 1913, at Clements where he received his elementary and high
school education.
He was married to Lenora Pankratz on September 30, 1939. They spent most of
their married life in Florence and were the parents of two sons, Galen and
Greg.
Chuck Graham worked for the Rice Motor Co., Chevrolet agency, at Florence
and later for Yingling Chevrolet at Wichita. He served in both World War II
and the Korean War.
In 1952 he established his own business, Graham Appliance, at Florence. He
specialized in Zenith television sales and service and was noted for his
integrity. He operated the business until retirment in 1979.
He ws a faithful member of the Florence Christian Church, serving as an
elder and deacon.
He was a ham radio operator who spent many happy hours at the hobby, and
shared his talents with others. He also was a pilot who enjoyed flying and
shared his talents and airplane with others.
His hobbies not only brought pleasure to himself, but were shared.
He as preceded in death by one infant brother, Melvin; his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. John Graham; one half-brother, Lee; and a half-sister, Virgie Baker.
Survivors include his wife, Lenora of Florence; sons, Galen of Austin,
Texas, and Greg of Florence; two grandsons; one brother, Neil of Cottonwood
Falls; three sisters, Gladys Danby of Wichita, Alene Brown of Council Grove
and Dorothy Hatcher of Florence.
Memorial services were held at the Florence Christian Church with the Rev.
Mike Green officiating.
Bennie Holtsclaw was the vocalist and Maxine Robinson the organist.
Casketbearers were Leo Scharenberg, Harold Triggs, Ralph Linnens, Harold
Huntley, Jim Farley and Ronald Ludwig.
Honorary bearers were Walt Ireland, Charles Rogers, John Shaw, Ben Barrett,
Harry Koslowsky, Virgil Clark, Ivan Morgan and Rex Savage.
