Graham, Elsie Dora Byram Mrs. J. T. Graham Passes In Hospital
Rites For Lifetime Resident Of Chase County Held Tuesday At Cedar Point
And Burial Was There
Mrs. J. T. (Tom) Graham, 78 of Cottonwood Falls, died Saturday in the
Newman Memorial Hospital, Emporia, where she had been a patient only a few
days. She had been in failing health for several years.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Cedar Point Methodist
Church. The Rev. Wilbur Purvis, pastor of the Cottonwood Falls Methodist
Church, officiated. Rev. and Mrs. Keith Percell sang, accompanied by Mrs.
Percell. Pallbearers were Joe Mauderly, Carl Wyatt, Bert Dawson, Wayne
Park, Don Dwelle and Ed Zickefoose. Burial was in the Cedar Point Cemetery.
Elsie Dora Byram was born January 22, 1887, at Cedar Point, the daughter of
James S. and Piney Homer Byram. She was married to John Thomas Graham on
March 24, 1909, at Cedar Point. They resided in Clements until 1937 when
they moved to Cottonwood Falls. Mr. Graham, who had served as Chase County
Treasurer, died July 26, 1952. Mrs. Graham had been a member of the
Presbyterian Church of Clements.
Surviving her are three sons, Neil Graham, Cottonwood Falls; Charles Graham,
Florence, and Lee Graham, Clements; four daughters, Mrs. Noel Danby,
Wichita; Mrs. James Brown, Strong City; Mrs. Dorothy Hatcher, Florence and
Mrs. J.M. Baker, Holyrood; one brother, Scott Byram, Liberal; one sister,
Mrs. Dora McCoun, Strong City, 18 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Melvin.
