Graham, Neil Kennith Neil Kennith Graham of Cottonwood Falls, died Friday, March 18 at Wesley
Medical Center, Wichita.
Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Graham at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March
22, at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home. Pastor Dan Roland of the
United Methodist Church of Cottonwood Falls, officiated with Kathryn
Ireland and Tom and Joe Bell ministering the music.
Casketbearers were Dennis Burton, Delwin Burton, Tony Burton, Rodney
Stewart, Duncan Stewart and Anthony Long. Honorary Casketbearers were Bus
Yoakem, Chester Makovec, Elmer Swift, Dwight Bishop, Emrick Harbaugh and
Albert Burton. Interment followed the services at Prairie Grove Cemetery.
Neil Kennith Graham, the son of Thomas and Elsie Byram Graham, was born
July 21, 1911 in Clements. He married Mildred Burton on November 4, 1939,
at Cottonwood Falls.
Mr. Graham was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charles and
Lee, and one sister, Virgie Baker.
He is survived by his wife, one son, Charles and wife, Beth, of Burdett,
Ks; one daughter, Erma Jean Eagen and husband James, of Stuart, Florida;
seven grandchildren: Tammy Hill, Tina Ryan and Karen Eagen of Stuart,
Florida; Rob Graham, Brent Graham, Christopher Graham, and Tony Long of
Burdett, Ks.; two great grandsons: Joseph Hill and Harry J. Ryan of Stuart,
Florida; three sisters: Dorothy Hatcher, Florence, Aline Brown of Council
Grove, and Gladys Danby of Wichita; and a sister-in-law, Lenora Graham of
Florence.
Mr. Graham had been a bookkeeper and truck driver for Bergner-Bowman and
Matthews Lumber Yard, which became Dahlberg Lumber Co., of Cottonwood
Falls. He also worked for the Chase County Highway Department from 1970
until he retired in 1978. He was a lifetime resident of Chase County.
Mr. Graham was a member of the Cottonwood Falls United Methodist Church. He
enjoyed music and in earlier years, played a trumpet in the Rhythm Merchant
Band. He also enjoyed playing Pinochle, being with his friends, and had
been known as a great horseshoe player several years ago.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made for the Chase County
Emergency Medical Services. They may be sent in care of the
Brown -Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home.
