Gravatt, Eugene Harvey

Eugene Harvey Gravatt, 75, Emporia, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at Newman Regional Health.

Mr. Gravatt was a groundskeeper at Emporia State University. He was an Army veteran of the --Korean War. The son of Harvey and Florence Woodruff Gravatt, he was born April 1, 1929, at Emporia.

He married Elva Lucille Kirkendall on July 24, 1963, at Cottonwood Falls. She died Aug. 28, 1978.

Mr. Gravatt is survived by two sons, Gene Johnson of Emporia and Bobby Gravatt of Kansas; four grandchildren; and a niece with whom he was living, Delva Turner of Emporia. A sister, Virginia Gravatt, died earlier.

The funeral was Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, in the Patio Garden of Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Services were conducted by , American Legion Ball-McColm Post 5 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Lowry-Funston Post 1980.
