Greene, Elisha Barton Jr.

Elisha Barton Greene Jr. died at the home of his father E. B. Greene, at Bazaar, Saturday morning May 6th of tuberculosis of the glands. He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, Feb. 3, 1878. With his parents he moved to the Greene ranch at Bazaar, Kansas in 1902, where he resided until death.

Barton Greene was a young man of excellent character and splendid promise. He was a graduate of the College in Zanesville, Ohio. Four years ago the disease that terminated his life began to show itself and altho he underwent several operations for removal of diseased glands and all that could be thought of was done for him, he gradualy grew worse until death relieved him from his sufferings.

He made profession of his Christian faith at an early age and joined the Presbyterian Church and after moving to Bazaar transferred his membership to the Presbyterian Church in Cottonwood Falls. Although his sufferings were often very great and his strength steadily decreased he did not complain, but bore his sufferings with a fortitude and patience that was beautiful to see and looked forward to his dissolution with cheerful composure, confident that it was well with his soul.

The funeral services were conducted in the Presbyterian Church, Monday, 3 P. M. by Rev. Alexander Gilmore. Interment was made in Prairie Grove cemetery.
