Grover, Elnora Maxine Childs

Elmdale native Elnora Maxine Grover, 81, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at her home in Wilsey.

Mrs. Grover owned and operated the Grover Rest Home at Wilsey for more than 20 years. Earlier, she and Velma Dike did wallpapering and painting in the Morris County area.

The daughter of Dewey Howard and Lura Marie Dean Childs, she was born April 14, 1923, at Elmdale. She graduated from Elmdale High School.

She married James Porter on Oct. 9, 1942, at Marion. He died May 6, 1969.

She married Don Grover on March 29, 1971, at Miami, Okla. He died Oct. 21, 2002.

Mrs. Grover was a member of the Wilson Christian Church, the church Come Join Us class and the Women's Missionary group. She also was a member of the Hillsprings Hobby Club.

She is survived by two daughters, Frances Davies of Wilsey and Jamie Davies of Council Grove; and two grandchildren. A daughter, Cyntha Robison; a brother, Edwin Childs; and a sister, Waneta Callahan, died earlier. The memorial service was Saturday, Jan. 22, in Penwell-Gabel Council Grove Chapel. The private family inurnment service will be at a later date.
