Grundy, Olive Marjorie Masters

Olive Marjorie Grundy, 94, of Eureka, a longtime teacher, died Aug. 16, 2002, at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka.

Olive Marjorie Masters, the daughter of Daniel and Esther Swanson Masters, was born Sept. 16, 1907, at Harveyville. She graduated from Harveyville High School and earned a degree in music from Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia.

She married Herman Benjamin Grundy on Oct. 3, 1931, at Cottonwood Falls. Mrs. Grundy, a teacher, was a helping teacher at Northwest Junior High School in Kansas City, Kan., from 1946 to 1972, when she retired. Earlier, she taught music and French at Climax grade and high school for one year; taught at LeRoy; taught with her husband Herman, in District 114 at Lamont for two years; and then they taught at the Piedmont schools for 10 years. After retirement, she and her husband lived in the Lyon and Greenwood County area until the late 1980's, when they moved to Eureka.

Mrs. Grundy was a member of the First United Moethodist Church in Eureka and the United Methodist Women's group. She also was a member of the Sorocis Club. She is survived by her husband and one sister, Dorothy Sell of Platte City, Mo.

The funeral coducted by the Rev. Diana Hill, was Aug. 19, 2002 in the First United Methodist Church at Eureka. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the church can be sent to the Koup Family Funeral Home, P O Box 595, Eureka, Ks 67045
