Gurney, Edna Helen Mulanax

Edna Helen Gurney, 85, formerly of Cottonwood Falls and a resident of the Holiday Resort care center, died Dec. 18, 2001, at the center. Mrs. Gurney and her husband, Lee, farmed in the Homestead and Cassoday communities before they retired in 1973 and moved to Cottonwood Falls. She also was a homemaker.

Edna Helen Mulanax, daughter of George and Myrtle Martin Mulanax, was born Dec 25 1915, at Cassoday. She married Lee J Gurney on Dec 09, 1935, at Emporia. He died Dec. 5, 1983.

Mrs Gurney is survived by two sons, Arthur Lee Gurney of Cottonwood Falls and Charles William "Bill" Gurney of Wyandotte, Okla,; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Walter Mulanax and Arthur Mulanax, died earlier. She has been cremated and at her request no services are planned. There will be a private family inurnment in Cassoday Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Chase County Emergency Medical Service may be sent to the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls.
