Harbison, Deborah Mae

Deborah Mae Harbison, 52, died Jan. 8, 2003, at Marion Manor Nursing Home.

Deborah, the daughter of John J. and Margaret Stephenson Harbison, was born July 7, 1950, at Strong City. Deborah was raised on her family farm in the Homestead community. She attended Cedar Point Grade School and Lowther Junior High in Emporia. She graduated from Emporia High School and attended a vocation al school in Topeka, learning several trades.

She worked for eight years in a laundromat in Emporia until her health became so bad she had to quit and move back to the farm. She lived independently at Carriage Manor in Florence until moving to Marion Manor Nursing Home in Marion.

She is survived by two broth ers, Howard Harbison of Muskogee, Okla. and John Harbison Jr. of Florence; two sisters, Margaret Callen of Salina and Barbara O'Dell of Florence; one uncle, Alvin Stephenson of Lombard, Ill; twelve nieces and nephews; and seven great-nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were Jan. 10, 2003, with Rev. Larry Timm officiating. Burial was at Prairie Grove Cemetery, Cottonwood Falls. Zeiner Funeral Home of Florence was in charge of the services. A memorial fund has been established with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Marion County.
