Haring, Betty M Burner

Betty M. Haring, 82, El Dorado, formerly of Latham, died Sunday, May 22, 2005, at LakePoint Nursing Center in El Dorado.

Betty, the daughter of Oscar and Adeline Harshman Burner, was born April 21, 1923, in Latham. She was raised and received her education in Latham and graduated from Latham High School in 1941.

She was united in marriage to Stanley S. Haring on Aug. 9, 1941, in Winfield. The couple lived in Latham where they raised their family. They moved to El Dorado in 1957. She began employment with M.F. Litras as a legal secretary until 1970. She then worked for James B. McKay Jr., as a legal secretary. In 1975, they returned to Latham and she continued working for Mr. McKay until April of 1977 when she retired.

They moved back to El Dorado in 1987. Mr. Haring preceded her in death on Aug. 14, 1989. She was a member of the Latham United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Stanley S. Haring Jr. of Wellington; a daughter, Marion Weaver of Cottonwood Falls; four grandchildren, Patrick, Samuel, and Brian Haring and Karen Stebbens; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Scott Stebbens; two brothers and five sisters. Graveside services were held Wednesday, May 25, at the Latham Cemetery in Latham. Miles Funeral Service in Winfield is in charge of the arrangements.

A memorial has been established in Mrs. Haring's name for Hospice Care of Kansas in El Dorado. Contributions may be made through the funeral home, 4001 E 9th Winfield, Ks 67156.
