McNaughton, Elizabeth

Mrs. Joe Herring, near Matfield Green, died last Wednesday evening, from paralysis. She had been ill for some time and this was the third stroke. The funeral took place last Saturday at 1 o'clock at Matfield.

Elizabeth McNaughton was born in Peunsylvania March 22, 1831, and was married to Joseph Herring May 2, 1850. To this union were born thirteen children, eight of whom are still living, besides whom she leaves two brothers, three sisters and the aged husband to mourn her taking away.

In 1876 they moved to Chase county, Kansas, and have resided near Matfield Green ever since.

The deceased united with the M. E. church Nov. 15, 1850, and remained a consistent member of the same until transferred to the church triumphant. She verily walked with God for over fifty years.

Rev. Cullison of this city conducted the funeral services in a very impressive Manner.
