Heskett, Lawrence Seldon

Lawrence Seldon Heskett, of Rifle, Colorado, was born in Chase County, Kansas, Novembeer 01, 1876, and departed this life at Hymer, Kansas, on May 22, 1928. His death was due to heart failure. He united with the United Brethren Church in Berthard, Colorado, in 1920, and has lived a consistent Christian to the time of his death. As a boy he grew up in Chase county, and was well known by the people here of twenty-five years ago. He attended the common schools of Hymer, and later the State Agricultural College at Manhattan, being a graduate of the class of 1896.

Mr Heskett settled for a time at Prowers, Colorado where he married Miss Hazel Genevieva Zediker, Septembeer 30, 1913. To this union, one child was born who died in infancy. Death occurred suddenly while here visiting relatives and friends. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, three sisters, Mrs. Ida Sherffius, Courtland, Kansas; Mrs. Stella Kennison, of Reading, Kansas, and Grace Wise of Hutchinson, Kansas; three brothers, Lewis Heskett, of Shelleytown, Texas; Lem Heskett, Fort Scott, and Frank Heskett, Staffordville.

Funeral services were held at the home of Mrs. Amos Heskett, Thursday afternoon, May 24. His body now rests by his mother's in the family lot at Elk cemetery. The services were conducted by the Rev. Henry Delevan, of Hymer.
