Hogan, Betty Jo Miller

Former longtime Neosho Rapids resident Betty Jo Hogan, 82, of Overland Park died Dec. 17, 2002, at the Garden Terrace Alzheimer's Care Facility in Overland Park. Mrs. Hogan, a homemaker, also worked for some time at Montgomery Ward and was a sales manager for Newman's Department Store.

Betty Jo Miller, the daughter of George F. and Marguerite Corrine Tenney Miller, was born June 19, 1920, in Emporia. She graduated from Emporia High School in 1938. She married Robert Dale Hogan on July 31, 1939. He died Sept. 1, 1995. Mrs. Hogan was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Neosho Rapids and a longtime member of the Women's Society of Christian Service.

She is survived by two daughters, Darla F. Hogan Cahoone of Cottonwood Falls and Marilyn Blaufuss of Lenexa; two sons, D. Kevin Hogan of Olathe and David L. Hogan of Beaumont, Texas; a brother, Kenneth W, Miller of Cape Coral, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. A son, Allen H. Hogan; a brother, Donald E. Miller; and a granddaughter died earlier.

A celebration of her life was Dec. 21, 2002, in the Roberts- Blue-Barnett Funeral Home Chapel.. The Rev. Phyllis Garrett of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Neosho Rapids conducted the service. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery at Neosho Rapids. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association and sent in care of the funeral home,. P.O. Box 175, Emporia, KS 66801.
