Hoover, Ione Imthurn

Ione Imthurn Hoover, 74, died Feb. 26, 2004, at the family home in Plano, Texas.

Ione, the daughter of Fern Shaffer and George Imthurn, was born near Madison Sept. 24, 1929. Educated in Kansas, she was a graduate of the University of Kansas and the KU School of Nursing, graduating in 1952 with a bachelor's degree in nursing. She practiced her profession as a Registered Nurse for nearly 40 years. She retired from active nursing in 1992, volunteering in hospital discharge planning after her retirement.

She was married in Cottonwood Falls to Ned Hoover on Nov. 23, 1952. The Hoovers have resided in Plano, Texas, since 1981. Survivors are her husband; two sons, Mat of Trinidad, West Indies and Mike of Arnold, Md; two grandchildren; a sister, Ms. Maxine Green, Newton; and several nieces and nephews. The memorial service was held at the Custer Road United Methodist Church, Plano, Texas on March 2, 2004.

The family requested that contributions to a memorial fund established in her name be sent to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, N.Y. 10163.
