Hopper, Lula A Graham

Mrs. Lula A. Hopper was born at Centerview, Mo., June 7, 1877 and died at her home in Cedar Point, Kans., December 18, 1913. She came with her parents to Cedar Point when about six years of age and most of her life had been spent there, she having lived in and near Columbus, where she attended school at Stony, a few years.

She was united in marriage to Lon C. Kyle in 1896. To this union were born two children, Christine and Archie. Mr. Kyle died in 1904. In 1910 she was married to J.D. Hopper and to them one child was born, Dorothy, who is also left without a mother's care.

Besides her three children she leaves to mourn her loss, her mother, Mrs. Graham, her husband, J.D. Hopper, three sisters, Mrs. W.H. Grimwood of Cedar Point, Mrs. Soper of Columbus, Kans., and Mrs. Green of Tiawah, Okla., and two brothers, Jack Graham of Columbus and T. Graham of Clements.

She united with the M.E. Church in 1898 and remained true to the end. She was well known, highly respected and beloved by all who knew her. It can be said that this was the passing away of a truly good woman. Her last few years were years of suffering, but we can take comfort in the thought that she is now "Safe in the arms of Jesus".

The funeral services were held in the M.E. Church at 10 a.m., December 19. Rev. Eugene Kramer officiating. She was then laid to rest in the Cedar Point Cemetery. The family has the sympathy of the entire community.

The Modern Light, Columbus, Cherokee County, Kansas, Jan. 15, 1914.
