Fenner B. Hunt, Dead

Fenner 13. Hunt, a resident of this county for 47 years, and one of the foremost men during the early political years of the county, died at his home in this city early Saturday morning following a long illness, death being due to a complication of diseases and his advanced age of 84 years.

During his long residence here, Mr. Hunt had served as county superintendent of the schools of the county several terms; he had served as county surveyor; as county attorney and had been a representative from this county. During the time he was representative, before a railroad had built through here from Topeka, he made his first trip to Topeka to attend then State Legislature on foot.

He was accompanied on his journey by the late Robert Brash, whose death occurred at his home in Elmdale, this county, only a few months ago.

Mr. Hunt was an active worker in the upbuilding of the schools and took a keen interest in all educational work during the time he was superintendent of the schools of Chase county., He was also a school teacher of unusual abilily.

He was never married, and the relatives he leaves in this city are nieces and nephews with whom he has made his home.

The funeral was held at the family home Monday afternoon, Rev. Bryan, of the Methodist church and Rev. Braden, of the Presbyterian church, of this city preaching the sermon. Internment was then made in Prairie Grove Cemetery.
