Ireland, Kathryn

Kathryn Ireland, 80, of Cottonwood Falls died March 14, 2002, at Morris County Hospital in Council Grove.

Funeral services were conducted March 18,2002 in the First Presbyterian Church of Cottonwood Falls. Interment followed in Prairie Grove Cemetery.

Kathryn Ann Musil was born on Aug. 14, 1921, in Blue Rapids to Charles F and Emma Smercheck Musil. She married Charles Ireland on May 20 1944, in Childress, Texas. He preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1998.

Mrs Ireland was a music school teacher in several communities prior to moving to Chase County. Following moving to Cottonwood Falls, she was a substitute teacher with the Chase County School District and taught private piano lessons. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church US A, Prebyterian Women, chartermember of the Presbyterian Mariners, and directed the church choir for over twenty-five years. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women of Chase County and PEO.

She is survived by three sons, Charles Ireland Jr. of Girard, John Ireland of Howard and Jim Ireland of Leesburg, Va.; one daughter, Carolyn Kirkpatrick of Pomona, Calif.; one sister Esther Rundus of Fulton, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church.
