Johnson, Elizabeth G "Betty" Campbell

Elisabeth "Betty" Johnson of Cottonwood Falls died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, at Holiday Resort, Emporia. She was 82.

A service is planned for 2 p.m. Friday at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls. A complete obituary will appear later.

Elizabeth "Betty" G. Johnson, 82, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, at Holiday Resort in Emporia.

Elizabeth G. Campbell, the daughter of Hugh K. and Frances T. Baldwin Campbell, was born Dec. 6, 1923, in Newton. She and Harvey J. "June" Johnson were married Sept. 4, 1946, in Strong City. He died Sept. 14, 1999.

She worked at Cessna Aircraft during WW II and taught at a grade school for one year. She retired, after driving a school bus for Chase County School District #284 for 22 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church (USA) of Cottonwood Falls.

She is survived by one son, Hugh "Pete" Jay Johnson, Fort Worth, Texas; one daughter Barbara "Bobbin Frances Godfrey, Cottonwood Falls; and two step-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and son-in-law, Dan Godfrey.

A memorial service was held Friday, Jan. 6, at the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home with The Rev. Pat Ireland officiating. Cremation has taken place. Inurement followed at Prairie Grove Cemetery in rural Cottonwood Falls. Memorial contribution to the H.Dale Buck Animal Welfare Memorial Fund, Inc. may be sent in care of the funeral home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
