Jones, Irene Louise Smith

Irene Louise Jones, 83, formerly of Chase County, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Holiday Resort, Emporia. A Celebration of Life service was held July 16, 2003, at the Brown Bennett-Alexander Funeral Chapel, Cottonwood Falls, with The Rev Everett Cress officiating. Burial was at the Cedar Point Cemetery Cedar Point.

Irene Louise Smith, the daughter of Kimber B. and "Caroline Stroda Smith, was born July 28, 1919, at Diamond Springs. She married Howel C. (Bud) Jones on Jan. 21, 1943, at Minneapolis, Kan. Irene was a homemaker/rancher, working with her husband in their livestock business.

She is survived by a son, Bill Jones of Denver, Colo.; four daughters, Mikki Shea of Snohomish, Wash., Rosita Harlan of Silver Springs, Fla., Joyce Garr of Emporia and Kimberly Butter of Cottonwood Falls; one brother, Joseph Smith of Salina; nine grand-childrendren; and 13great-grand- children. She was preceded in death by her husband; two infant twin sons; three brothers, Charles Smith and Leo Smith and one sister, Inez Smith.

Memorial contributions to Holiday resort may be sent in care of the funeral home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, Ks, 66845.
