Keller, Jerry D

Jerry D. Keller, 63, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006, at the University of Kansas Hospital, in Kansas City, Kan., where he had been taken after a sudden illness.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Sept. 30, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Emporia, with The Rev. Kelley Lackey II officiating. "A Time for Remembering" gathering will be held, following this service, at 2 p.m. at the Community Building in Cottonwood Falls. Cremation has taken place. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.

Jerry D. Keller, the son of Alexander and Linda Dick Keller, was born May 14, 1943, in Lyons. He served in the United States Air Force. He and Corinne Wadsworth were married May 23, 1968, at Lyons. They were divorced.

He married Allison MacGregor Harbaugh on June 15, 1991, at Emporia. He was a carpenter. He was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, the Kansas Bowhunters Association, Professional Bowhunters Society, Cottonwood Falls Country Club, National Rifle Association, National Education Association and the Flint Hills Antique Power Association. He taught Industrial Arts for Chase County School District #284 from the fall of 1970 until the spring of 1991. He was an instructor with Bowhunter Education classes and served on the Cavalry Barn Restoration Committee and the Board of Roniger Museum.

He is survived by his wife, Allison, of the home; a son; Kevin Michael Keller of Strong City; a daughter, Janice Lynn Keller of Shawnee; two brothers, Jim Keller of Lyons and Dick Keller of Downs; a step-son, Benjamin Kent Harbaugh of Manhattan; two step-daughters, Sarah Jo Harbaugh of Emporia and Emily Sue Harbaugh of Denison, Texas; and one grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial contributions for a fund for the education of his grandchildren, which has been established at Exchange National Bank or to the Cavalry Barn Project may be sent in care of the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home, 201 Cherry, Cottonwood Falls, KS, 66845.
