Kerr, Orville
Former area resident Orville Kerr, 90, of Wamego, a longtime educator and school administrator, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at Wamego City Hospital.
He was born July 28, 1912, near Americus and graduated from Americus High School in 1930. He graduated from the College of Emporia with a bachelor's degree in 1934 and from Emporia State University with a master's degree in 1941.
He married Flora Ellen Woodhull of Cottonwood Falls in 1935.
Mr. Kerr was a principal at Morgan Elementary school in Hutchinson for 17 years before he retired in 1977. He also was principal at several schools in Hutchinson beginning in 1945 and between 1935 and 1945 taught school in Burns and El Dorado. He moved from Hutchinson to Wamego in 1988.
Mr. Kerr was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hutchinson from 1945 to 1988 when he joined the First Presbyterian Church in Wamego. He was a former member of the Kansas National Education Association, the Hutchinson Retired Teachers, Kiwanis Club and R.S.VP, a community service organization.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Duane Kerr of Wamego; a daughter, Nancy Courtney of Fort Collins, Colo.; a brother, Keith Kerr of Grand Junction, Colo.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The memorial service was Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, in Grandview Suites at Wamego. Inurnment will be in the spring at Fairlawn Cemetery in Hutchinson. After the inurnment, there will be a memorial service with the time to be announced.
