Makovec, Anatasia E "Stasie" Bezdek

Anastasia E. "Stasie" Makovec, 93, of Cottonwood Falls, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at the Chase County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cottonwood Falls.

The daughter of John and Mary Urbanek Bezdek, she was born Jan. 1, 1911, in Marion County. She married Chester F. Makovec on Nov. 5, 1931, in Florence. He died April 8, 1992. She worked at the Buffington Locker Plant in Cottonwood Falls and, later, at the school as a dietary worker. Mrs. Makovec was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the alter society. She is survived by three daughters, Arlene Evans of Cottonwood Falls, Charlote Casey of Marion and Kay Brown of Topeka; eight grandchild; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Six brothers, two sisters and a grandson died earlier. The Mass of Christian Burial was Wednesday, Dec. 29, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Strong City. The Rev. Nicholas Voelker was the celebrant, Burial was in St. Anthony Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the church renovation fund may be sent in care of the Brown-Bennett-Alexander Funeral Home, 201 Cherry St., Cottonwood Falls, KS 66845.
