Malone, Jean Gayle Lighthall

Jean Gayle Malone, 50, of Dwight, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2006, at the Morris County Hospital.

Jean, the daughter of George A. and Bessie L. Parr Lighthall, was born Jan. 23, 1956, in St. Joseph, Mo. She graduated from Council Grove High School with the class of 1974, received her BA degree in Vocal Music Education from Baker University and her Masters Degree in Music from Wichita State University. She taught vocal music for 28 years, most recently in USD 417.

She married Stephen J. Malone on Dec. 4, 1985, in the St. Rose Chapel, Council Grove. They later divorced.

She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church; a member of NEA; active with Boy Scout Troop #65 as Den Mother, treasurer and committee member.

She is survived by a son, Daniel James Malone, Manhattan; a daughter, Sarah Rose Malone, Dwight; her parents; and two brothers, Gregory S. Lighthall, Alcoa, Tenn. and David L. Lighthall, Topeka.

A Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, Nov. 8, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Council Grove with burial following at the Dwight Cemetery.
