Marlar, E Louise Matile

E. Louise Marlar, 92, a longtime Emporia resident, died July 19, 2002, at the home of a daughter, Dixie Lampo of Olathe. Mrs. Marlar, who moved to Emporia from rural Madison in 1949 worked as a waitress from 1955 until she retired in 1986. She was born March 4, 1910, in rural Lyon County, the daughter of Eugene C. and Mary Buck Matile. She married Thomas J. Marlar on Jan. 5, 1931, in Lyon County. He died in 1971.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the C.S.C. Extension Unit and a member and past president of AARP. She also participated in three Bible study groups.

She is also survived by another daughter, Jane Yerkes of Des Moines, Iowa; a brother, Dan Matile of Elmdale; a sister Fern Windler of Emporia; three grandchildren and two great-granchildren and two great-grandchildren. The Rev. J Gordon Bechtel officiated at the funeral Tuesday, at Charter Funerals-Emporia Chapel. Burial was in Maplewood-Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Memorials in her name to the First Presbyterian Church or the Buck Foundation can be sent to the funeral home, 501 W Sixth Avenue, Emporia 66801.
