In the fall of 1898, Mrs. Davidson moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana and her mother then went to live with her son John at Powhattan.

A year ago she was attached with la grippe, and her children were all summoned to her bedside., thinking that she would not recover. She gradually grew better, but never entirely recovered. On Saturday, May 25th, she was taken very ill and the children were again called to see her. They arrived to late to see her alive.

The funeral services were held in the Congregational Church at Powhattan at 2:30 PM June 1st 1895, the Rev. Bixby, paster of the Congregational church officiating, after which the remains were interred in the High Prairie cemetery at Powhattan.

The deceased was well known in Chase and Marion counties and her life was one of self sacrifice for others. She lived her religion and was ever ready with loving deeds and helping hands to help those with whom she was associated. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord."
