Martin, Michael

MICHAEL MARTIN DEAD

Michael Martin, almost 92 years of age and the oldest resident in this part. of the county is dead at his home in Elmdale. The deceased was born in Ireland 1832, and emigrated to America when a young man of 28 years. He came to Chase county in 1862 and located at Elmdale, when bat two houses had been built there. This county has since been his home. He was a veteran railroad man and worked on the Santa Fe from the time the line was built through this part of Kansas until a number of years ago when his age and health made it necessary for him to discontinue. He leaves two sons who are Michael Martin Jr., of Elmdale, and Richard Martin of Kansas City. Mr.Martin's dearth occurred at 8:00 o'clock Monday morning, Sept. 22nd, following a long illness. The funeral will be held in Elmdale at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning after which interment will be made in the Elmdale cemetery.
