May, Mary Elizabeth PIONEER OF COUNTY PASSES AT ELMDALE
Mrs D. May is Found Dead by Granddaughter When she Came Home from School, Tuesday
Mrs. D May, a resident of Elmdale and Chase County almost 50 years, was found dead, Tuesday, at noon by her granddaughter, Cleo Stenzel, when she came home from school. Mrs May is thought to have died of heart failure about 10 o'clock. The funeral services will be in charge of H A Fintel of the Methodist church in Elmdale at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Interment will be in the Elmdale cemetery.
She is survived by four sons, Arley Davis of Elk City; Oscar May of Elk; Clarence May of Elmdale, and Raymond May of Wichita. Her only daughter, Mrs. Will Stenzel, died about 10 years ago, and her husband, Dexter May died in January, 1925. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Minerva Badger of Elk and Mrs Amy Pipfield of Colorado. Thirteen grandchildren also survive her.
Mary Elizabeth Sims was born at Kokomo, Indiana, Oct 16 1857, and died Sep 10 1927, at the age of 71 years, 11 months, and 4 days. She was married to William Davis while in Indiana, and later, after the death of her husband, came with her son, Arley Davis, and her father to Kansas in 1878. On July 4 1879, she was married to Dexter L May. To them were born five children, Mrs Will Stenzel, who died in 1917; Louis May, who died in infancy; Oscar May, Clarence May and Raymond May.

MRS DEXTER DIES SUDDENLY
Mrs Dexter May died suddenly at her home in Elmdale Tuesday morning the result of heart trouble. When grandchildren of Mrs. May returned to the May home from school Tuesday noon they found their grandmother dead.
Mrs May and her son, Clarence May, and his children lived together. From all appearances Mrs. May was in her usual health Tuesday morning and after completing her work around the breakfast table had prepared to do her washing. She had talked with relatives over the telephone some time later in the morning so there is every reason to believe that she was stricken suddenly with little or no warning.
The funeral services are Thursday, conducted by Rev Homer Fintel, paster of the Methodist church. Interment was in the Elmdale cemetery.
Mrs. May, who was born in Indiana, came to Chase County with her parents when a young woman. She had been a resident of this county for fifty years. She had spent the most of these years on Stribby Creek. Mr. May's death occurred January 23, 1925, and one daughter, Mrs Lulu Stenzel, died in 1917. Mrs. May is survived by four children, Clarence May, of Elmdale; Oscar May of Stribby Creek, Raymond May of Wichita; and Arley Davis, of Elk City, Kansas.
Mrs May's death, coming so suddenly and unexpectedly is a severe shock to her children and relatives and many friends.
