McCabe, Ida Winnie McCracken
“Mrs. Lee McCabe Dead -- Elmdale -- Mrs. Lee McCabe, a lifetime resident of Chase County and the co-owner and operator of an Elmdale restaurant, died Sunday in St. Mary’s Hospital in Emporia.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Brown Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls, conducted by the Rev. William Scott, pastor of the Christian Church. Burial will be in the Bazaar Cemetery.
Ida Winnie McCracken, daughter of J.H. and Laura Geer McCracken, was born June 15th, 1892, in Maffield Green, and she was married to Lee McCabe March 19th, 1911,in Bazaar.
She and Mr. McCabe had owned and operated a grocery store and cafe in Bazaar for several years, lived for a short time in Wichita, then moved in 1945 to Elmdale. They had owned the restaurant since that time. She was a member of the Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Florence, and three sisters. She is survived by her husband of the home; one son, John R., of Topeka; two daughters, Mrs. Herman Schuler, Cassoday, and Mrs. Darrell Spence, Elmdale; three brothers, Frank McCracken, Rocky Ford, Colo; Joe McCracken, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Clarence McCracken Bazaar; three sisters, Hattie Heathman, Bazaar; Mary Peck, Matfield Green, and Lorene Hall who is a missionary in Central Africa, 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.”

“Rites Today For Mrs. Lee McCabe --- Elmdale Resident Was Native of Chase County And Had Lived Here Almost Entire Life. --
Mrs. Lee McCabe, 72, of Elmdale, who was a native of Chase County and had lived almost her entire life in this area died Sunday in St. Mary’s Hospital, Emporia, following an extended illness.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. this Wednesday at the Brown Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls. The Rev. William Scott, pastor of the Elmdale Christian Church, officiated. Elmore Stout sang, accompanied by Mrs. Charles Ireland. Pallbearers were Clifford Bastin, Earl Bastin, J.T. Overstreet, Hugh Pinkston, Clifford Morgan and Wayne Rogler. Burial was in Bazaar Cemetery.
Ida Winnie McCracken was born June 15, 1892, in Matfield Green, the daughter of J. H. and Laura Geer McCracken.
She attended school at Matfield Green and Bazaar and was married to Lee McCabe in Bazaar on March 19, 1911.
During the time they resided there they operated a grocery store and a restaurant. They had lived in Wichita two years before moving to Elmdale in 1945 where they operated a restaurant. Mrs. McCabe was a member of the Christian Church in Elmdale.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Florence, and three sisters.”
