JOHN MCCABE DROPS DEAD

Word was received here about ten o'clock Monday forenoon that John McCabe had dropped dead in the middle of the street at Americus only a few minutes before. His son Burney, who is attending the County High School, left on the first train for home.

It is supposed by his many friends that his sudden death was caused by heart failure, as he had complained of his heart ever since the death of Mrs. McCabe only about two months ago.

Mr. McCabe was well known in Chase county. He lived most of his life at Bazaar where he was a blacksmith for many years. At last election he was the democratic candidate for Probate Judge and received one of the highest votes of any one on his ticket. He is a brother of James and Andrew McCabe of Strong City and of Matt McCabe who recently returned from Helena, Montana. His relatives arrived Tuesday afternoon with the body and the funeral will be held at the Bazaar school house Wednesday at 11 o'clock. He will be laid to rest beside his wife in the Bazaar cemetery.
