Bessie Pinkston McCracken b. 29 Apr 1904, Clements, KS d. 21 Aug 1978, Emporia, KS
Lifetime County Resident Passes
Mrs. Clarence H McCracken, 74, of Cottonwood Falls, who was a lifetime resident of Chase County and for 57 years a resident of the Bazaar community, died Monday morning, Aug. 21st, in St. Mary's Hospital, Emporia.
Bessie A. Pinkston, daughter of Harrison T. and Sarah Leaphule Pinkston, was born April 29, 1904, at Clements, and she was married to Mr. McCracken on Jan. 12, 1921, in Emporia. Mr. McCracken died Feb. 2, 1974, and shortly after that Mrs. MCracken moved from Bazaar to Cottonwood Falls.
Surviving her are one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Betty) Hastings, Route 1, Cottonwood Falls; her mother of the Chase County Nursing Center, Cottonwood Falls; three brothers, Walter, Dudley and Phill Pinkston, all of Route 1, Cottonwood Falls; one sister, Miss Maxine Pinkston, Cottonwood Falls, two grandchildren, Patricia Bruce, Route 2, Emporia, and Mike Hastings, U.S. Naval Air Station, Millington, Tenn; four great grandchildren, Shannon Lostutter and Wesley Bruce, Emporia, and Janis and Shawn Hastings, Millington.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her father and two brothers, Harold and Gilbert. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23rd, in the Brown-Bennett funeral Home with the Rev. Lee Wiersma of the United Methodist Church officiating. Mrs. Robert Long sang, accompanied by Mrs. Lee Collinsworth. Casket bearers were James Harbaugh, Francis Towle, Elmore Stout, O.W. Parks, Frank Gaddie and Aaron Diehl. Burial was in the Bazaar Cemetery.

Cottonwood Falls
Mrs. Clarence H McCracken of Cottonwood Falls, a lifetime Chase County resident who's home was in Bazaar 50 years, died today at St. Mary's Hospital in Emporia. Services will be held in the Brown-Bennett Funeral Home at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Lee Wiersma of the United Methodist Church of Cottonwood Falls in charge.
Bessie A. Pinkston, daughter of Harrison T. and Sarah Leaphule Pinkston, was born April 29, 1904, at Clements. She married Clarence McCracken in Emporia Jan. 12, 1921, and he died Feb. 2, 1974.
Mrs. McCracken is survived by her mother of Cottonwood Falls; one daughter, Betty Hastings, Rt 1, Cottonwood Falls; three brothers, Walter, Dudley and Phill Pinkston, Rt 1, Cottonwood Falls; one sister, Maxine Pinkston, Cottonwood Falls; two grandchildren, Patricia Bruce, Rt 2, Emporia, and Mike Hastings, U.S. Naval Air Station, Millington, Term; and four great grandchildren, Shannon Lostutter and Wesley Bruce of Emporia, and Janis and Shawn Hastings of Millington, Tenn. Mrs. McCracken was preceded in death by two brothers, Gilbert and Harold Pinkston."
