McCracken, Joseph Henry
J. H. McCracken Dies.
At Home In Bazaar Veteran Telephone Operator Succumbs
to third Stroke of Paralysis.
Henry McCracken, well known resident of Bazaar died Monday afternoon about 4:30 o'clock at his home as a result of a stroke of
paralysis suffered a week before his death. It was the third stroke Mr. McCracken had had. The funeral services are being held this (Wednesday) afternoon at the Bazaar Church. Interment will be in the Matfield Green cemetery.
Mr. McCracken has been a resident of this county for the past 35 or 40 years. For 21 years he was manager and operator of the Bazaar telephone exchange and held this position until a year ago in April when he retired on account of poor health.

Joseph Henry McCracken was born January 31, 1811, in Iowa and died at his home in Bazaar at the age of 62 years, 6 months, and 21 days. He was married in 1891 in Greenwood County to Laura Geer.
Those who survive are the widow, three sons, five daughters and one sister. The children are Clarence and Joe McCracken of Bazaar, Frank McCracken of Strong City, Mrs. Lea McCabe, Mrs. Roy Heathman and
Mrs. R. L. Peck of Bazaar, Mrs. T. J. Hansen of Omaha, Neb., Mrs. E. L. Hall of Newton. The sister is Mrs. Minnie.Monroe of Quincy, Illinois.

Death of Henry McCracken
Henry McCracken died at his home at Bazaar about 4:30 o'clock Monday afternoon, August 21, following quite a long illness. His death was due to a stroke he had suffered a few days before, that being the third stroke be had sustained within the past several months.
The funeral services were held at Bazaar at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon and interment was in the Matfield Green cemetery.
Mr. McCracken was one of the best known men of this part of the county. During recent years he has operated the telephone exchange at Bazaar
although prior to this he had for many years been engaged in farming and he and his family had lived in several parts of the county before they went to Bazaar.
Besides his widow Mr. McCracken is survived by eight children: Joe Mc Cracken, Clarence McCracken, Mrs. Reynold Peck, and Mrs. Lee McCabe
and Mrs. Roy Heathman., all of Bazaar.;
Frank McCracken, of Strong City; Mrs. Bert Hall, of Newton, and Mrs. T J Hansen, of Omaha.

OBITUARY HENRY McCRACKEN
Following is a brief obituary which was read at the funeral of Henry McCracken Wednesday afternoon of last Week at the church at Bazaar :
Joseph Henry McCracken was born January 31, 1871, in Iowa. He was in his sixty-second year at the time of his death. He came to Kansas when a young man and was married in 1891 to Laura Geer.
The McCracken family has lived in Chase County for nearly forty years. For more than twenty years Mr. McCracken resided at Bazaar where he was operator of the Bazaar telephone Exchange until failing health made it necessary for him to discontinue this work.
Besides his widow, Mr. McCracken Is survived by eight children, Clarence McCracken, Joe McCracken, Mrs. Lee McCabe, Mrs. Roy Heathman, and Mrs. R. L. Peck, of Bazaar; Mrs. T. J. Hansen, of Omaha, Nebraska; Mrs.
L. Hall, of Newton; Frank McCracken, of Strong City. He also leaves one sister, who is Mrs. Minnie Monroe of Quincy, Illinois.
