McCullough, Hugh C

Mr. Hugh C. McCullough, of Homestead, departed this life August 14, 1891. The deceased was born in Beaver county, Penn., July 4, 1842, and was 52 years, I month and 10 days old. He was an old soldier, having served his country for three years in the 3rd Regiment (Company F) Ohio volunteer infantry, and was engaged in the battles of Rich Mountain,, Perryville, Stone River, Days Gap and Saud Mound, was honorably discharged in 1864 and married in 1865, moved to Kansas in 1872 and has lived at the place of his death since 1871.

His funeral was preached in the Homestead school house by Revs. Perry and Mackenzie and was attended by people from far and near. After the sermon he was taken to Clements for burial by the G. A. R. post of that place.

Appropriate and very affectionate services, were held by those old veterans, showing that soon there will be none left to tell of that fearful struggle. The bereaved and heart-broken family have the sympathy of the entire community, hoping that these broken ties may soon he reunited on the other shore.

Card of Thanks. Mr. Editor: I wish through the columns of the LEADER to extent my most heartfelt thanks to the many friends that came to our assistance in all the illness, death and burial of my husband.

Though we have suffered the loss of such a dear friend and we are so lonely, and our hearts are almost broken, we realize that these were indeed friends in our great time of need, and words fail to express the deep gratitude of my heart in this trying hour.

Mrs. N. McCullough and Family
