McGraw, William D

William D. McGraw, 62, died Feb. 28, 2006, at The Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center in Wilmington, N.C., after a battle with cancer.

Bill, the son of Cecil and Dorothy McGraw, was born Dec. 19, 1943, at Strong City. He graduated from Chase County Community High School in 1961. He attended the University of Kansas and graduated from the School of Pharmacy at Butler University, Indianapolis, Ind. in 1967. After graduation he practiced pharmacy in Indianapolis, Ind., before moving to Wilmington in 1975. Following employment with the Town Pharmacy in Leland, N.C. between 1975 and 1981, he opened the Medicine Shoppe in Wilmington, N.C. In 1984 he moved to New Castle, Ind., with his family and worked at various pharmacies. In 1995 he returned to Wilmington, N.C., and worked for CVS Pharmacy until late 2005, when his illness prevented him from working.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Judy; a daughter. Shannon, Wilmington, N.C.; three sons, Matt, Wilmington, N.C., Justin, Indianapolis, Ind. and Stefan, Wichita; and three grandchildren. The service was Saturday, March 4, at Myrtle Grove Presbyterian Church, Wilmington, N.C. The Reverends E. Stanley Banker, J. Stanley Banker and Steve Jesson officiated.

Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery, Wilmington, N.C. Andrews Mortuary, Wilmington, N.C. was in charge of arrangements.
