McPhail, Ella Elizabeth Lacy
Funeral services for Mrs. Elmer McPhail whose death occurred Wednesday, Dec. 11th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dorothy McCallum in ElDorado, was held in this city Sunday afternoon. The service was held In the McKenzie funeral home and was attended by many relatives and Chase county friends and acquaintances.
Since 1900, Mr. and Mrs. McPhail have lived on their farm on Cahula Creek near the Chase-Morris county line. On account of ill health several months ago, Mrs. McPhail had been at the home of her daughter in El-Dorado.
Mrs. McPhail's maiden name was Miss Ella Elizabeth Lacy. She was born Feb. 12th, 1866 at Paducah, Ky. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Lacy. She came with her parents to Council Grove when a girl of five where she grew to young womanhood.
She was united in marriage to Elmer McPhail Dec. 4th, 1883, and to this union seven children were born. The oldest son, Clarence, died in 1927. The other children are living. They are Mrs. Dorothy McCallum of ElDorado; Mrs. Clarence Guthrie of Trinidad, Colo.; Mrs. Anna Stillion, of Phoenix, Arizona; Mrs. Florence Sherman of Salida, Colo.; Glen McPhail of Dunlap and Albert McPhail of ElDorado. She also leaves her husband and two brothers who are Charles Lacy of Delano, Calif., and William Lacy of Denver, Colo.
Other relatives include eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Mrs. McPhail was a kind and loving mother and wife and a fine Christian woman. She had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church from her early girlhood.

MRS E. L, McPHAIL IS BURIED SUNDAY
Well Known Cahola Creek Woman Died Wednesday at Home iof Daughter Near Eldorado.
Mrs. E. L. McPhail, who died Wednesday night of last week at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rodney McCallum, near ElDorado, was buried Sunday afternoon at the Four-Mile cemetery south of Council Grove. Services were held at the McKenzie chapel. Mrs. Loren Harris of Dunlap conducted
the services. Rev. J. W. Hadley of Strong City sang three solos, accompanied by Dale P Creitz of Strong City. A short service was held also at the cemetery.
Mrs. McPhail was practically a lifelong resident of northern Chase and southern Morris counties. The McPhail family lived on Cahola Creek at the present home place 35 years.
Ella Elizabeth Lacy was born February 12, 1866, at Paducah, Ky., the daughter of Amos and Emily Lacy. When she was five years of age her parents moved to Council Grove, Kans., where she grew to young womanhood.
On December 4, 1883 she was united in marriage to Elmer McPhail of Council Grove. To this union were born seven children, six of them surviving, the eldest son, Clarence McPhail, having died in 1927. In 1900, Mr. and Mils. McPhail moved to their present home. on Cahola Creek.
When a young woman she joined the Methodist church. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and will be sadly missed in the home where she had spent practically all of her married life doing the many kind and thoughtful things for her children and grandchildren. Due to ill health, some months ago, she was compelled to go to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dorthy McCallum, at ElDorado, Kans., where she passed away December 11, 1935.
She is survived by her husband and the following children: Mrs. Dorothy McCallum, ElDorado; Mrs. Florence Sherman, Salida, Colo.; Mrs. Mae Guthrie, Trinidad; Mrs. Anna Stillion, Phoenix, Ariz.: Glen McPhail of Dunlap and Albert McPhail of ElDorado; two brothers, Charles Lacy, Delano, Calif., and William Lacy, Denver Colo. Also eleven grandchildren and six great grandchhildren.
