Mollohan, James
Jas. Mollohan, one of the best known of southwestern Chase county, died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. August Link in this city about 2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Mr. Mollohan had been ill for several weeks and he was brought to this city for medical treatment last Friday.
The funeral services were held from the Wonsevu church at 2:00
this Wednesday afternoon and interment was made in the Florence cemetery. Rev Rowe paster of the Elmdale Methodist church, was in charge of the service.
Following is the obituary read at his funeral:
James Mollohan, son of Susan M Jordan and Arnold Mollohan was born in Webster County, West Virginia, Dec 9 1855 and departed this life Dec 1 1935 at Cottonwood Falls, Kansas at the age of 79 years, 11 months, and 23 days. He was preceded in death by two sons,
Guy who died in Nov. 1888 and Arnold who died in April 1929.
During the Civil War tlmes when sentiment was very high his father who was a northern soldier had to leave Webster county taking with him his family and only what they could carry on one horse.
James who then was about eight and his mother and baby sister
rode a second horse while his Father walked and carried the family clock.
Soon after this they came to Bloomington, Illinois where he grew
to manhood. There he attended the United Brethren college.
In 1876 he came to Marion, Kansas. June 18 1876 he was married to Mary Bltner of Marion. To this union were born seven children.
Mr. and Mrs. Mollohan have lived in several different places. In 1903 they with their family, moved to their farm near Wonsevu which has been their home ever since.
He has always been interested in all branches of farming and especially in handling and feeding cattle.
He was converted during a protracted meeting and joined the United Brethren church in Bloomington, Illinois. When his family moved to Marion he united with the M. E. church of that place. Later when he moved to Wonsevu, he united with the Christian church of this place. He held the place of elder in this church and was chairman of the board at the time of his death. He has always taken a marked interest In the life of the community, being active in the social and religious life and general welfare of the community. He was always courageous and looked on the bright side of life.
He leaves to mourn his death his widow, Mary Mollohan, three sons, T. K. of ElDorado; Richard of Kino, Colorado; Fred of ElDorado, and two daughters, Mrs. Myron Sadler of Nampa, Idaho, and Mrs. Curtis Snedgar of Cedar Point; a sister, Mrs. Emma Trees,of While City,; also 14 grandchildren and other relatives and many friends.

James Mollohan Passes Suddenly
James Monahan, one of the best known residents of the southwest part of the county, died suddenly early Sunday morning at the August Link home in Cottonwood Falls to where he had been brought Friday for medical treatment.
Mr. Mollohan had been in failing health for a year or so but his condition was not regarded as critical. It was planned for him to stay at the Linck home a few days for treatment and then return to his home.
Funeral services for Mr. Mollohan were this (Wednesday) afternoon at the Wonsevu church with the Rev Rowe, pastor of the Elmdale Methodist church, in charge. Interment was in the Florence cemetery.
Mr. Mollohan was born Decemer 9, 1855, in West Virginia and came to Kansas as a youth of 23 Years. He has lived on the same farm near Wonsevu since 1903. Those who survive are the widow, Mrs. Mollohan; two daughters, Mrs. Curtis Snedgar of Cedar Point and Mrs. Myrtle Sadler of Nampa, Idaho; three sons, T. R. Mollohan and Fred Mollohan, both of El
Dorado, and Richard Mollohan of Pueblo, Colo. The oldest son, Arnold, died at Peabody several years ago.
