Montgomery, John Mrs

MRS. JOHN MONTGOMERY DEAD

Word was received here Monday by George Robertson of the death of Mrs. John Montgomery, Sr., at her home in Emporia at 2:00 o'clock that afternoon. A member of the Montgomery family asked Mr. Robertson to be a pall-bearer for the funeral services which had not yet been set.

Mrs. Montgomery was about 75 years of age and had been in failing health for a long time. The Montgomery family lived in this county for many years and were prominent members of the Presbyterian church of this city. The family lived west of town on the Wm. Harder farm and later on the Scribner farm just north of the river for a long time. Later on they moved to Lyon county which has since been the home of most of the family. Mr. Montgomery's death occurred about ten years ago in Lyon county.

Mrs. Montgomery is survived by her sons, Harry Montgomery, who lives in Emporia, and John Montgomery and Drew Montgomery who live on farms, Lyon county, also by her daughter, Mrs, Lizzie Stewart, and her son, James Montgomery, both of whom live in Canada, Another daughter, Miss Katie Montgomery is in California and another daughter, Miss Agnes Montgomery, lives in Emporia. Mlss Katie Montgomery, formerly one of the well known school teachers of this county, served four years as county superintendent while the family still lived here.

The funeral services for Mrs. Montgomery will not be set until word can be received from Miss Katie Montgomery in California and the children who live in Canada.
