Chase County Obituaries

Montgomery, Katherine Miss Katherine Montgomery, a former Chase County Superintendent of schools and a former resident of the Emporia area, died this morning in the Peterson Nursing Home in Osage City, where she had been a patient since August, 1962. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the McVey-Blair Colonial Mortuary.
The daughter of John and Margaret Gray Montgomery, Katherine Montgomery was born Nov. 15, 1884, in Strong City.
She served as Superintendent of Public Instruction in Chase County and taught for several years in Chase County and in California before she returned to Kansas to live with a brother, Drew Montgomery, and his family, Rt. 4, Emporia. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by two brothers, John A Montgomery, Blackie, Alberta, Can., and Drew Montgomery, Rt 4; one sister, Margaret Montgomery, Los Angeles, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.
