Morgan, Ed "E.L."

Ed "E.L." Morgan, 82, died May 5, 2004, at Holiday Resort Care Center, Emporia.

Ed, the son of Cyrus and Orpha Kinsey Morgan, was born Sept. 19, 1921, at Cedar Point. He married Esther Arlene Baker April 26, 1942, at Clements. She died May 21, 1996, in Emporia.

He was a Santa Fe Railroad engineer for 40 years, retiring April 11, 1983. He was a member of the Flint Hills Christian Church, Civilian Conservation Corp. and Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.

He is survived by two sons, Larry D. Morgan and Ron J. Morgan both of Emporia; two daughters, Debbie Allen of Richland, Mo. and Penny Morgan of Emporia; three brothers, Clifford G. Morgan of Canyon City, Colo., Clarence Morgan of Kansas City, Mo. and Harold Morgan of Wichita; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, three brothers, one infant son and one grandson.

The graveside service was May 11, 2004, at Cottonwood Cemetery, Emporia, with Mr. John Ortiz of Emporia officiating. Memorials contributions to the Sertoma Miniature Train at Soden's Grove or Emporia Friends of the Zoo may be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, 605 State St., Emporia, KS 66801
