Morris, David C David C. Morris, 68, prominent
farmer and stockman of Elmdale,
died at 4 o'clock Monday afternoon in St Maries Hospital, Emporia.
Mr. Morris' death came as a surprise to many Chase County people as it was not generally known that his condition was critical.
He was kicked by a mule some time ago, but this did not seem to bother him a great deal at the time. His condition became worse, however, and he was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Emporia on Thursday. He steadily grew worse until the end Tuesday.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Second Presbyterian church in Emporia. Rev. Otis Bussart, of Elmdale, conducted the services with the Rev. J. L. Mitchell of Cottonwood Falls assisting. Pallbearers were William Lewis and J. Manuel Hughes of Emporia, and
D L. Crawford, John Gibb, Paul Wood and Rodney McCallum of Elmdale. Interment was in the Evergreen cemetery 2.5 miles south of Emporia.
David C. Morris was born April 27, 1864, in Montgomeryshire, North Wales. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Morris. The family came to the United States in
1870, settling in Lyon County. David Morris went to Elmdale in 1885 and lived there the remainder of his life with the exception of three years more than 20 years ago when he lived in Emporia at 916 Union.
Mr. Morris was married in 1897 to Alice M. Roberts, an Emporia girl. He wa a member of the Methodist church at Elmdale. He is survived by his widow, two sisters, Mrs. Ann Watkins of Olpe, and Mrs. Jane Davis of Crawfordsville, Ia., and three brothers, John I.. Morris, Joseph J. Morris, and Richard O. Morris, all of Emporia.

David C. Morris, of Elmdale, died at the St Mary's hospital in Emporia Monday afternoon August I, following
ing only a few days illness. Mr. Morris entered the hospital last week. It was not until a short time before his death that it was realized his condition was serious.
The funeral services were

Churches of this city and Strong City .

in 1885, David Morris located at Elmdale where he purchased extensive land holdings. With the exception of several years this county has been his home.
In 1897 Mr. Morris was united in
marriage to Miss Alice M Roberts
of Emporia. He is survived by his
widow, two sisters, Mrs. Ann Watkins of Olpe, and Mrs. Jane Davis of Crawfordsville, la., and three brothers John L Morris, Joseph J Morris and Richard O. Morris.
Another brother
Lewis Morris died in Emporia.
Mr. Morris was a member of the Methodist Church of Elmdale. He was
one of the most widely known farmers and stockmem of Chase County and was successful in his work. The
Morris home on Diamond Creek north
of Elmdale is one of the finest country homes in the county.
