Nichols, Helen Fern Stehlik

A funeral service for Helen Fern Nichols, 81, was held Saturday at the Strong City Cemetery. Frank Leone, associate pastor in Emporia conducted the service.

Mrs. Nichols, a homemaker who formerly lived at Broadview Towers, died Sept 6, 2001, at Vintage Manor.

She was born to Tony John and Estella Grace Lewis Stehlik on april 22, 1920, in Emporia. She married Rovert R. Nichols on Aug. 01, 1949 in Marion. He died April 6, 1974, in Emporia. She is survived by two sisters, Elsie Workman of Emporia and Martha Taylor of Georgia, and by three step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. A step grandaughter, Janie Holland, died in 1968. A brother and a step-great-grandson also died earlier.

Mrs. Nichols was a member of the Flint Hills Christian Church, the Auxiliary of Lowry Funston Post 1980, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Memorials to the American Diabetes Association or the Leukemia Society of America can be sent to Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
