Osgood, Lawrence Max

Lawrence Max Osgood, 72, died Aug. 9, 2002, at his home in Florence.

Lawrence Osgood was born Feb. 12, 1930, east of Peabody on the old Coin place, son of Warrin and Bertha (Fergus) Osgood. He grew up south of Cedar Point in the Homestead area and graduated from Matfield Green High School. He served in the Army for two years. He was a substitute mail carrier which turned into the main rural carrier for a total of 30 years. He carried propane for Epps Propane until health reasons caused him to quit. He also farmed and helped any and everyone who needed it.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of the home; one son, Lawrence W Osgood of Cedar Point; six daughters, LaVerna Chaney of El Dorado, Theresa Danby of Newton, Monica Jones of Emporia, Dr. Connie Lang of Topeka, Anita Hind of Newton and Michelle Nelson of Cassoday; two brothers, Francis Osgood of Council Grove and Lloyd Osgood of Kinsley; one sister, Helen Riggs of Bushton, 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchil- dren and one great-greatgrandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Rema Rae and a son, Warren Lee.

Funeral services were held Aug. 14, 2002, at Florence Methodist Church, Florence. The service officiates were pas- tor Bill Dyar and Everett Cress. Interment was at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Florence. The Veterans Administration or Central Homecare and Hospice were named as the memorials in lieu of flowers.
