Parks, Nancy

Miss Nancy Mayfield was born in Sullivan county, Ind., March 24, 1846; died May 19, 1911, near Cedar Point, Kansas, aged 65 years, 1 month and 25 days. February 11, 1864 she was married to Alfred W. Parks and a few years later they moved to Florida. In 1874 they moved to Chase County locating near Cedar Point.

To this union were born three sons and one daughter. In 1889 the deceased united with the Methodist church of which faith she was a true christian. he was a kind mother and a good neighbor. Although afflicted for years, she never complained.

She leaves to mourn her death a husband, Alfred W. Parks, three sons, Thos. L., Fayette C. and William, of Cedar Point, and one daughter, Mrs. Horace Porter, of Sentinal, Oklahoma; three brothers, John R. Bostic, of Graceville, Ind.; Geo. Mayfield, of Sullivan, Ind., and William Mayfield, of Perkins, Okla.; four sisters, Mrs. Jane L. Palmer, of Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Ammy Dudley of Graceville, Ind.; Mrs. Nellie Ransford of Terre Haute, Ind.; and Mrs. Sarah Taft of Centrailia, Ind.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Eugene Kramer of Strong City, assisted by Rev. McNabb of Cedar Point and were held at the Methodist church at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon.
