Peak, Delbert Delbert Peak, 47, of Kansas City and formerly of Cottonwood Falls, died after he and his wife, Deneise Peak, 43, were taken by helicopter ambulance to Stormont-Vail regional Medical Center in Topeka.
Peak died from injuries he received in a two-vehicle accident early Sunday morning, June 26, near the town of Miller in northeast Lyon County.
The fatality was confirmed by the Lyon County Sheriff's Department. Deneise Peak was reported in fair condition Monday morning, according to Stormont-Vail officials.
Deputies from the Lyon County Sheriff's Department were dispatched at 1:46 a.m. Sunday to the 3200 block of Road W7 to an old railroad right-of-way near Miller. The accident involved the Peaks' dune buggy and a 1989 GMC pickup driven by Donald W. Holmberg, 52, of Miller. Holmberg was the only passenger in his vehicle.
Holmberg was not injured in the accident and was taken to Lyon County Jail, where he was booked in at 2:55 a.m. He remained in jail Monday, awaiting formal charges.
Investigation of the accident continues.

Delbert Neil Peak 47, of Shawnee and Cottonwood Falls died Sunday, June 26, 2005, at Stormont-Vail Medical Center in Topeka from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle accident on June 26.
Mr. Peak was a driver for Penny's Concrete in Emporia and later, in the Kansas City area.
Delbert, the son of Leonard and Doris Marie Holmes Peak, was born Aug. 28, 1957, in Emporia. He grew up in Americus.
He married Donna Deneise Brown on March 28, 1987, at Westminster United Presbyterian
Church.
She survives.
Mr. Peak was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cottonwood Falls, where he was a Presbyterian Mariner and a Presbyterian Elder.
He is survived by three sons, Chad Peak of Olpe, Matt Peak of Cottonwood Falls and Brian Peak of Bennington, Neb.; one daughter, Amy Nichole Potter of Burbank, Okla.; three sisters, Aletha Wheeler of Andover, Charlotte Thornton of Overland Park and Donna Smith of Nashville, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.
His parents died earlier.
The funeral service was Saturday, July 2, 2005, in Westminster United Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Richard Gorham of the
Eastminster United Presbyterian Church in Wichita conducted the service. Burial was in Americus Cemetery at Americus.
